Traditionally, the Khmer recorded information on tra leaves. Tra leaf books recording legends of the Khmer people and other prayer books are cared for and wrapped in cloth to protect from moisture and the climate. Under Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, 1.7 million perished in the “killing fields”.
